Another Dominant and Wild Year in The Big East!

I'm so glad we(louisville) made the move years back to join The Big East Conference!  Over the past  few years it has been obvious that The Big East Conference has been at the top of the college basketball world!  Since there are so many great teams in The Big East its very hard to predict anything and there are always strange outcomes/upsets throughout each season.  At the start of the season it was pretty obvious that Villanova and West Virginia were gonna be top teams in the conference since they had most returning top players.  That's about all anyone could correctly predict considering what has happened this year.  Syracuse was picked in the pre-season to finish 6th but has proved everyone wrong by being at the top of conference.  UConn who was picked to finish 3rd in the conference has had a very tough year and has fallen toward the bottom of the league.  Louisville was picked to finish 4th and now sits 7th but is on the move up.  So many strange upsets have occurred this season.  From just this week we had Rutgers defeating Georgetown, Louisville defeating Syracuse, and UConn defeating Villanova.  Never a dull moment in the Big East and it makes for some great basketball! What is everyone's thoughts on this season and what are your predictions as the season nears its end?  Check out the links below to compare the preseason and current conference standings!

  1. The Big East has the best basketball in the nation. That can be a problem if you are looking for your favorite team to have a stellar W-L record, or a high national ranking. Most teams in the Big East are going to be battered and bruised by March 1 but absolutely ready when facing non-Big East teams in the NCAA tourney. The Big East will fare well in the tourney this year. My heart says I want Louisville to be the team everybody has to beat but can't, but that is not an objective opinion. Louisville is showing signs of finally coming to life. If UofL can survive the end of February schedule, we should be ready to do well in the tournament. I do have to say that it looks like Syracuse is still the team most tournament ready. It may be the loss to Louisville snapped them to the reality that nobody will hand them the crown without fighting for it. I like to think that late season momentum will give Louisville a chance to go deep in the tournament. They have done it before. Go Cards!
